Say Hello To Autumn, Palm Beach County Style!

Say Hello To Autumn, Palm Beach County Style!

The end of summer doesn’t mean that your family needs to be a stop to family outings, day trips, and festivities. Despite the fact that autumn ushers in new routines and can sometimes feel like a bit of a grind, there are a host of fun, seasonal activities that you and your kids will enjoy. Your children are ushering in the season of Halloween, pumpkins, Thanksgiving, and cooler weather at daycare or preschool with seasonal activities, and you can keep the fun rolling on the weekends, too.

The Palm Beach area is full of festive, autumnal family fun, sometimes in surprising places. Think Oktoberfest is only for adults? Think again! The American German Club of the Palm Beaches hosts a family-friendly Oktoberfest that will have your whole household ringing in the season. While there will be, of course, German beers to sample, there will also be food, including kid friendly hot dogs, hamburgers, french fries, and ice cream in addition to sauerbraten and red cabbage. Treat your kids to a variety of carnival rides, music and dance performances, and plenty of space to run around. This event is a crowd-pleaser, for both adults and their little ones.

And as Halloween approaches, get your kids geared up for a non-traditional holiday celebration, the Boynton Beach Haunted Pirate Fest and Mermaid Splash. This quirky Halloween event takes advantage of its seaside location and offers pirate re-enactments (including Captain Jack), interactive pirate ships, treasure hunts, a mermaid tank, and even a parade! Prizes are awarded to the best pirate and mermaid costumes, so get crafty!

For a totally different twist on Halloween fun, head to the Palm Beach Zoo for Boo at the Zoo! This event invites your kids to dress up in costume for a safe day of trick-or-treating, complete with costume contests, a pumpkin patch, a bounce house, and face painting. And because this is a special zoo event, there will be wildlife presentations and encounters with roaming zoo creatures.

And in November, on the West Palm Beach Waterfront, bring the whole family to Lagoon Fest, an event for lovers of the nature our gorgeous region has to offer. Your children will love the live music, the interactive wildlife presentations, and the tours of the lagoon. There will be special activities geared toward kids, including water sports for the bigger ones. And you’ll have easy access to the West Palm Beach Green Market, home to local produce and a variety of fresh foods your family can bring home for dinner.

Palm Beach County offers a variety of autumn events, no matter what your family has in mind for the months ahead. From bratwurst to pirates to wildlife to lagoon tours, this season is filled with family friendly events that will help you to keep your kids in the seasonal spirit.
